    I think you have to sit and reflect upon why u did this specific swap after the 1.8T. If it was because of the challenge, then this IS the challenge. Keep working on it until you figure it out. If it was just to be different and it was more than you could chew, then yes, time to take a few steps back and decide what the ultimate goal is it with this car. If its any comfort, ive driven my Corrado for 13k miles with a 3.6 swap and the early days where full of headaches, even on a swap that was done before many times. In the end, between me and the shop, we pin pointed the biggest issues and then its been super reliable ever since. So, its not impossible, just needs a clear head to make sensible decisions that can take you to the ultimate goal.

    • @ThrottleGrotto

    Our Mk5 Jetta air conditioner stopped working. Took a while to find the problem. The washer heaters were shorting to ground right near the hood hinge. The AC limit switch was also on the same fuse. Who would ever know in the summer that their heated washers would not work. All this to say, it's probably a good idea to inspect the wiring. Why do you need a custom push clutch release? Doesn't the 928 already have that? I would use the as many Porsche parts as possible. I'm doing something similar with a VR6 into a 944. I'm going to use the Porsche bell housing in front of the torque tube and make an adapter from the bell housing to the engine....granted I haven't done it yet.

    • @ThrottleGrotto
      @ThrottleGrotto Месяц назад

      I think it depends on the pressure plate and how it's designed. I agree the 928 parts would be easier, just not sure at this point if they are compatible with anything custom. Still lots to learn

    • @77magnuss
      @77magnuss Месяц назад

      @@ThrottleGrotto My plan for my swap is to use the 944 bell housing and associated clutch parts, Then use a clutch and flywheel that fits the motor, the only custom piece would then be the adapter plate. Multiple ways to make that, I haven’t figured out spacing yet but I haven’t mocked everything up yet. In my case, the motor I’m using gets swapped a lot, but typically onto an Audi trans that has everything made already. So I kinda have a base point but it should be similar issues. Custom adapter plate seems lots easier than cutting the torque tube. The Maserati bell housing seems pretty big which is taking up your real estate. I also have a 928 but I’m just pulling motor and resealing.
